Painting in Plano — common questions

Is it worth painting the oak trim white?

In this housing stock it is the single highest-impact change we make. Oak trim needs de-glossing and a bonding primer first, and if you want a fully smooth result the grain has to be filled — we will show you both filled and open-grain samples.

My house is mostly brick — why isn’t the quote much cheaper?

It should be meaningfully cheaper than a fully sided house, but not dramatically: the cost sits in the trim, and trim is hand preparation. If a quote treats brick like siding, that is padding.

Will the oak grain still show through white paint?

To some degree, unless it is deliberately addressed — oak pores are deep. We would rather show you the options on one of your own doors than have you discover it at the end.

Is limewashing brick reversible?

Not really, and you should hear that plainly. A mineral coating bonds into the masonry. It can be recoated or the color adjusted later, but it will not come off to return you to bare red brick.
